My unanswered questions. Some more questions for ALL the Members of Merthyr Council.

Perhaps I am being naive.

I would have thought that at least some  Councillors, who were aware that this was the third time that these questions have been put to the Full Council and the simple answers to the questions have not been provided, did not express some concerns.

For a Welsh Audit Office Report relating to the safeguarding of children to have been suppressed for so long should be of some great concern to the Councillors.

Geraint Morgan was well aware of the background to this issue.

This is the first time that, in accordance with the Constitution, a Cabinet member has been prevented from fulfilling her responsibilities by answering a question from a member of the public relating to her portfolio.

Slowly but surely, the perpetrators of these wrongdoings are leaving the employ of the Council for one reason or another.

Some are still there, though.

Don’t you think it’s about time those people involved in this facade were made accountable for their wrongdoings?

One day, perhaps we will hear those  words that usually follow a Cover-up when it has been found out – “Lessons will be learned”.

It would appear that the Monitoring Officer and the Democratic Services Department will go to any lengths to ensure that no Council Meeting will ever see the Audit Wales Report on the Review of Whistleblowing Arrangements related to Safeguarding at Merthyr Council by not including reference to it on agendas and minutes of meetings.

If you were the Monitoring Officer of a local authority, this is one example of how you would misinform and mislead your Councillors and their electorate.
