BBC News: PM apologises after infected blood scandal cover-up

Gareth Chapman, retired CEO of Merthyr Council, did apologise for the debacle of an investigation that was conducted over a period of 18 months from July 2012 to January 2014 which involved an 18 month suspension from work for the victim of the so-called investigation.

However, no investigation was carried out regarding the cover-up of Safeguarding failures at Ynysowen Primary School and the Council from February 2016 that resulted in the unfair dismissal of the same victim of the  previous debacle (see above) in January 2017.

Some extracts from the BBC Article

How was the scandal covered up?

Some of what the PM said

Addressing the issue of a cover-up, he said better wording was “hiding the truth.”

Well said, Mr Sunak.

Exactly sums up what the cover-up at Merthyr Council was all about
HIDING THE TRUTH

But hiding the truth included not only deliberate concealment but telling half-truths or not telling people what they had had a right to know.

The Senior Officers of Merthyr Council either deliberately hid the truth  or told half truths or very often just told outright LIES

There had been a lack of openness, inquiry, accountability and elements of “downright deception”, including destroying documents.

Wow!!

Lack of openness, enquiry, accountability and downright deception, including destroying the career of an honest long serving employee.

Examples of all of these can be found throughout the posts on this website.
